Central Washington University Foundation Center – Historical Transformation Project.
As a graphic design intern for three months at Central Washington University’s Foundation Center, I had the opportunity to contribute to a creative project that celebrated the university's rich history and evolution. The project focused on showcasing how CWU has transformed since its establishment, blending archival material with modern design techniques to create engaging visual content for social media.
During my internship, I designed over 20 animated GIFs and 30 photo edits that highlighted key moments and milestones in the university’s history. These designs were crafted with the intent to captivate viewers and foster a sense of nostalgia while illustrating the dynamic growth of the institution.
The project was tailored for CWU’s Instagram page, where my work was featured in weekly posts designed to engage students, alumni, and the broader university community. I created enough edits to fill an entire calendar year, ensuring a consistent stream of content that aligned with the foundation’s marketing goals and increased their online presence.
This role allowed me to hone my skills in Adobe Creative Suite, animation, and visual storytelling, all while collaborating with the foundation's team to align the designs with the university’s branding guidelines. It also deepened my understanding of how design can play a vital role in connecting an organization’s past with its future, fostering community pride and engagement.
This project showcases my ability to work with archival materials, produce high-quality designs on a tight timeline, and create content that resonates with diverse audiences. The experience reinforced my passion for using design to tell stories and create connections that endure.
