Ellensburg Community Radio
Website Redesign
For this project, I set out to find a local nonprofit organization that could benefit from a refreshed online presence. After researching various options, I discovered the Ellensburg Community Radio Station (ECR), a nonprofit that I was already familiar with, as I often listen to their broadcasts. Given my personal connection to the station and their community-focused mission, I felt ECR was the ideal candidate for a website redesign..
The first step in the process was to thoroughly examine their existing branding and design elements. My goal was to enhance their online presence while preserving the essence of their original style. I approached this task with a focus on maintaining the authenticity of their brand, carefully selecting colors and typefaces that aligned with their existing aesthetic but offered a more modern and cohesive look. I wanted the new design to feel like a natural evolution of their current brand, rather than a complete overhaul.
An essential element I aimed to address was the absence of a volunteer page. Since ECR operates as a volunteer-run nonprofit, it struck me as an oversight that their original website did not have a dedicated section to attract and inform potential volunteers. Volunteering is crucial to their operation, so I made it a priority to create a page that was both easy to find and intuitive to navigate. The new volunteer page was designed to be clear and inviting, providing potential volunteers with all the necessary information in a user-friendly format, making it effortless for them to get involved.
By paying close attention to both the visual and functional aspects of the redesign, I was able to create a website that not only enhanced the station's brand identity but also addressed critical gaps in their user experience, ultimately supporting their mission to engage with the community more effectively..
